Weymouth Squibs

Weymouth Squibs

Weymouth Sailing Club (WSC) is located within Weymouth Harbour with easy access to the simply superb sailing waters of Weymouth Bay.

There are twelve active and competitive Squibs in the fleet, from the very new, Filch (909), to the very mature, Seahorse (41).  Counting owners, co-owners and crews, about fifty  WSC members form our very sociable Squib community.

The Club currently owns three Squibs which it hires (daily) or leases (longer term — eg annually) to members wishing to try out Squib one-design sailing/racing.

During the sailing season, from late-April to Boxing Day, the fleet is afloat on well-protected and easily accessible pontoon berths,  with Clubhouse, crane and yard facilities adjacent.  We normally race three times a week with our own class starts – on Monday and Thursday evenings and at weekends, tapering off in late-autumn and winter.

A perennial Squib Class favourite as an event venue,  Weymouth Sailing Club hosted the UK Squib National Championship most recently in June 2023 and is welcoming visiting Squibs again in September 2026, this time for the South Coast Championships.

The current Squib Class Captain is Richard Frost, his deputy is Andrew Mercer
